The comprehensive CEEL model includes programming that incorporates rigorous participant assessment, core content to support growth in strategic leadership, interpersonal leadership and results-focused leadership, as well as formal mentoring and coaching supports for leaders at all stages of their career. CEEL utilizes unique, multicontextual design and delivery which includes seasoned education leaders working alongside and in collaboration with private and public business leaders to facilitate learning.

The Need:

The one constant in education is change, and how leaders embrace change determines the future of South Carolina's children.

School leaders are responsible for ensuring that every child is college, career, and citizenship-ready upon graduation.

Leaders need sustainable leadership development programs that are cutting edge, comprehensive, transformational, and relevant to the leadership settings in which they serve.

A pipeline of school leaders who will transform education over the next few years, and beyond, is essential for driving the education and economic engines in our state.

Learning to Lead

All program components are based on research and best practices in the fields of both education and business. Strategies to help participants build expertise in each step of their career development include: discussion-based content module delivery, experiential and project-based learning opportunities, expert mentoring and executive coaching, and 360 degree feedback from peer and support systems.

Assistant Principals

CEEL supports assistant principals who seek to assume the responsibilities of the principalship. Assistant principals gain a level of leadership experience in their position but often lack the full skill set needed to move into a head principalship role. Districts are offered the opportunity to refer assistant principals and make recommendations as to specific subject area content needed for particular individuals in order to enhance his or her leadership potential. Assessments are administered and interpreted for identification of development needs.

Principals

CEEL supports the development of principals in their second through fifth year of service. Districts determine candidates for this customized, needs-based, transformative leadership opportunity for principals across the state. Following a two-year program of core content, development needs are determined through rigorous leadership assessments of capability and capacity.  Leadership skills are developed using a variety of methods, including tailored workshops, small group discussions, simulations and case studies, group and individual experiential school-based projects and stretch assignments.

District Level Leadership

CEEL supports superintendents and district level leaders through customized, needs-based and transformative leadership opportunities. Cohorts of leaders learn together and challenge themselves and each other to identify and master those specific skills and behaviors that will affect student achievement over an entire district.
